Governor's Fitness & Health Leadership Award

The Governor's Fitness and Health Leadership Award recognizes individuals, schools, businesses, industries and government agencies who advance physical fitness and health in Missouri. Any program or activity that results in improved physical education, health or fitness may be eligible.

Criteria for Evaluation of Entries
All entries must encourage health and fitness through:

  • Originality, innovation, creativity and quality
  • Documented effectiveness, credibility and accuracy
  • Clear goal of activity/defined number of participants
  • Purpose must be to educate and/or change lifestyle
  • Must be replicable in other sites

Selection Process
The applications will be reviewed by the Fitness and Health Leadership Award Committee of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health.

Presentation of Awards
All Fitness and Health Leadership Award recipients will receive a letter from the Governor and a certificate of achievement.

Entry Rules
Any individual, school, organization, group, business, industry or government agency responsible for creating, implementing or improving a physical education, health, fitness, sports medicine and/or sports program may submit an entry.

  • All entries must complete an official application.
  • Additional support material and a detailed outline of the program must be submitted with the application.
  • All entries become the property of the Missouri Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health and may be eligible for future promotions.

To apply/nominate for the Missouri Governor's Fitness and Health Leadership Award, please print out the application form, complete, and mail to Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health, P.O. The Governor's Fitness and Health Platinum Leadership Award
All recipients of the Governor's Fitness and Health Leadership Award are automatically eligible to receive the Platinum Leadership Award. The award is given annually  to recognize the "best of the best".

The Fitness and Health Leadership Award Committee will review the preceding year's recipients and, based upon a special criteria, will determine the winner and/or winners. The award is presented during a special ceremony  by the Governor.
