Scheduling Information

School Manual - Stations - Scheduling Information - School Responsibilities - 2007-2008 School Schedule - Classroom Activities - Teacher Resources - Scheduling Packet - Set Up Information

The Body Walk is scheduled through the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health (GCPFH). The Body Walk scheduling packet for the following school year is emailed to all Missouri elementary principals, superintendents, school nurses and others who have requested it. To complete a scheduling application on-line click here.

  1. Complete the Request to Schedule Body Walk form provided in the scheduling packet or on-line. Completion and submission of the form does not guarantee that Body Walk will be scheduled for your school. Due to widespread interest in the exhibit, we anticipate Body Walk will not be able to visit all schools that request it during the 2007 - 2008 school schedule.
  2. DO NOT send money with the Request to Schedule Body Walk form. You will be billed AFTER Body Walk visits your school.
  3. Requests to schedule Body Walk forms may be emailed, faxed or completed on-line at www.mofitness.org/BodyWalk/OnlineScheduling.html. Scheduling will continue until the Body Walk calendar is completely filled for the school year.
  4. Because the Body Walk exhibit is enclosed, it can be uncomfortably HOT inside the exhibit. We suggest that you do NOT request Body Walk during months of the year when temperatures may be warm unless you have air-conditioning in the gym or room where Body Walk will be set up.
  5. Small schools within the same geographic area may choose to have their students participate in Body Walk at one location on one day. Because additional time is generally required when students are from more than one school, the total number of students may not exceed 300.

School Responsibilities

  • Have at least a 50 by 50 ft space available for the Body Walk exhibit the night before the scheduled Body Walk date. The floor should be swept and clean.
  • Have one (6 ft to 8-ft long) table available for use.
  • Recruit a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 15 volunteers for both set-up and take down of the exhibit. At least 2/3 of the volunteers must be adults.
  • Recruit 12-24 presenters to engage the children in the activities provided at each Body Walk Station. Parents, community members, college students, and even mature high school juniors and seniors, if they work well with younger students, are great for this important role.
  • Be available the day Body Walk visits your school.
  • Prepare teachers for Body Walk by copying and distributing:
  • Complete the Participation Report and give to the Body Walk Manager at the conclusion of the day.
  • Complete follow-up within a week after Body Walk is over.
